There’s finally something to celebrate coming out of the Capital Region this winter—and it has nothing to do with the election. Bringing the first luxury gaming resort experience to the area, MGM National Harbour will open its doors on December 8. Minutes from DC on the banks of the Potomac River in Maryland, the $1.4 billion resort will feature a casino, celebrity-chef restaurants, nightlife, a 27,000-square-foot spa and retail shops.
The 308 guestrooms will range in size from 400 to 3,210 square feet with all categories boasting a modern look with clean lines, wood millwork accents and floor-to-ceiling windows. Introducing exclusive restaurant concepts to the resort will be celebrated chefs José Andrés, Marcus Samuelsson, and Bryan and Michael Voltaggio. Offering casual fare, National Market, meant to mimic a gourmet food festival, will host nine distinct venues under one roof. If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll be able to fill your cravings at Bellagio Pâtisserie, a European-inspired pastry shop reminiscent of its Vegas namesake. The eatery will feature a 26-foot-tall chocolate fountain with nearly two tons of melted chocolate.
On the entertainment site, the resort has partnered with Live Nation for programming at 3,000-seat Theater MGM National Harbor. The venue will host everything from concerts to comedy shows and UFC fights and will offer VIP suites and reconfigurable seating arrangements. The over 125,000-square-foot casino will hold 3,300 slot machines, table games and poker. In the evenings, guests can mingle over cocktails at Blossom Cocktail Lounge or the Felt Bar & Lounge, an indoor/outdoor venue featuring a tableside mixology program.
Reservations are currently available for stays beginning on December 10.
