Bringing together an awe inspiring symphony of engineering, performance art, and Icelandic culture, each iteration of the festival is itself a once in a lifetime event.
The 27th Reykjavik Arts Festival (RAF) will be launched today with a newly commissioned sound piece on the quays of Reykjavík harbor, at 5:45 pm. The festival is called: Art, Space & Audience and takes place from May 17th - June 2nd.
The approximately 10 minute long work by artist Lilja Birgisdóttir will sound throughout the city, but nowhere is the view better than on the quays where the artist herself will conduct the horns of the ships in the harbor via handheld transceivers, in a performance written for the Reykjavík Arts Festival.
