Named one of Europe's top 10 cities to visit by both Cnn and Lonely Planet, you'd be doing yourself a great injustice to miss out on the fine entertainment and unique island culture on your European getaway.
Lonely Planet and CNN have named Northern Iceland as one of the Top Ten European Destinations to visit in 2013, in a list compiled by Lonely Planet’s editors, local experts and wide-roaming authors from the US and London.
The Top 10 European Destinations of 2013 are 10 places in Europe that Lonely Planet thinks travelers should add to their wish lists for the coming year – either destinations that are just starting to receive buzz, overlooked places that are poised to be the next traveler find, or old favorites that have timely and fresh reasons to visit this year.
North Iceland was named third on the list, with travelers being urged to venture away from the popular Golden Circle route to experience the ‘charms of the North’ including Iceland’s second city Akureyri, as well as the region’s ‘dramatic geysers, lava fields and towering waterfalls.’
