Sonics Things are still on the fence for the movement to bring the Sonics back to Seattle, with a possible relocation of the Sacramento Kings to Seattle being the number one obstacle, but efforts to bring the team home received a welcome boost with the Sonics taking up temporary residence in the KeyArena in eight months.
Seattle officials are holding dates open for the Sonics to play games at KeyArena this fall, city staff members said Monday.
That the Sonics could make the Key their temporary home in just eight months shows how fast the possible return of the NBA to Seattle is progressing – despite many unanswered questions, including whether the NBA will OK the sale of the Sacramento Kings and relocation of that franchise to Seattle.
Even so, the city is hiring consultants and proceeding with studies, and working with King County officials. The city and county have signed an agreement to help build a professional basketball and hockey arena in Seattle. Read More on bizjournals.com
