Lara Solt/Dallas News Monday January 20 is officially known as Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Dallas actually hosted two parades in his honor for 2013. This year marks the 45th anniversary of MLK’s death, thus making this year a more significant milestone over previous years. Floats, bands and customized cars were displayed to the gathered crowds.
Beyond the customized cars, glittering floats and dancing bands that paraded Saturday through the streets of South Dallas lived a purpose: to pay homage to civil rights activist the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in the 45th year after his assassination.
