No matter what type of phone you’re currently using to hail an Uber ride, it probably isn’t as cool as the Xiaomi Mi Note. While the impressive smartphone isn’t on sale just yet, it will be next week in Asia. And thanks to the recent collaboration between Xiaomi and Uber, Singapore customers won’t even have to go to the store to buy it.
Hugo Barra, Xiaomi Vice President of International, announced on Facebook today that the “awesome and first-of-its-kind collaboration between two of the most innovative tech startups in the world” will mean that on July 27 (a day before online sales begin), users of the driving app will be able to hail the delivery of the Mi Note. Upon opening the app, you simply select the Xiaomi option from the bottom slider so you can see the nearby orange-colored Uber cars that are equipped to make the delivery. Upon making the request, your attached credit card is charged and soon your own fancy phone will show up at your doorstep.
According to CNET, the collaboration will also include Malaysia, but “only in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur.” Obviously, only a finite amount of smartphones will be available through the one-day deal, so if we were you, we’d have Uber open and ready on July 27.
