According to Dynata, a global online market research firm, "despite rising COVID-19 case numbers in many states around the country, half of Americans surveyed (47%) say the pandemic has not changed how much they will travel domestically in the future." The research was conducted during the week of July 20, 2020, surveying 1000 people in the U.S. about their willingness to travel. "In fact, 22% say they will travel domestically a little/a lot more in the future."
Those weary to travel by plane, are developing a new appreciation for the freedom of driving to a destination. Besides providing a change of scenery, taking a weekend or mini trip renews, recharges and enhances one's mental wellbeing if the destination practices safety and cleanliness protocols.
In Northern San Diego County, The Cassara Carlsbad, part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, debuted 29 new Mediterranean with a California influence family suites. Staying overnight in one of these spacious guest rooms, offers cool coastal breezes and panoramic views of the city of Carlsbad and the Pacific Ocean.
The new design blends seamlessly with the attached Grand Pacific Palisades, yet the new Cassara Carlsbad offers guests outdoor, open air corridors to enter their suite. Other than check-in in the lobby, guests do not have to pass through a packed lobby into closed interior corridors to get their room.
The three-level boutique hotel offers a stairway for those who choose not to use an elevator. Hand sanitizer dispensers are throughout the hotel including inside the elevator for guests to use after entering.
Perched on a bluff overlooking the seasonal Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch and Pacific Ocean, each suite displays hues of ocean blue and sand colors throughout. Wall coverings and art offer a Mediterranean flair in decoration.
Spacious suites are designed with one bedroom offering twin beds, and another room with a king size bed. In between these two rooms is a relaxing sitting area with a sofa and flat screen television.
The en suite bath area offers a shower and bath combination, and a separate water closet. There is a desk with a chair, refrigerator and in-room safe. Some of the family suites have sliding doors leading out to an outdoor patio or balcony with two wicker-style chairs and a table.
Guests have access to two pool areas with one overlooking the ocean, while the family pool offers a splash playground.
Hours are limited for guests to enjoy locally sourced craft cocktails out on the alfresco lounge area, adjacent to the pool. Since the onsite restaurant also has limited hours, socially distanced BBQ grills are available for guests who prefer to make their own meals to enjoy at sunset.
The property offers bicycles and e-bikes to rent and ride along 7 miles of local beaches. Carlsbad is known for its surfing, shopping and dining venues. Next to the Cassara Carlsbad is Karl Strauss Brewery, now with an outdoor beer garden for craft beer tasting during lunch and dinner.
Across the street is neighboring LEGOLAND and LEGOLAND SEA LIFE Aquarium (closed right now due to the pandemic).
Since the Cassara Carlsbad is part of the Tapestry by Hilton, safety and security of guests and team members remains the highest priority. To ensure travel safety, the staff follow the Hilton CleanStay protocol, and the hotel provides maximum flexibility with cancellations, as the situation around novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve.
