Last night, foodies across the country came together at various Ruth’s Chris Steak House locations to experience a five-course dinner in partnership with Johnnie Walker. Called TasteMaker Dinners, the events feature a curated menu alongside today’s tastemakers of wine, Champagne and whisky.
Yesterday’s affair was the third in a series of six dinners and included five whisky cocktails during each course. In San Diego, guests started with a stuffed shrimp scampi and lasagna roulade alongside a Scottish Standard cocktail made with Johnnie Walker Black, Cointreau, cardamom and prosecco.
The second course featured a balsamic roasted pear salad with Johnnie Walker Black served neat. Red lentil and cauliflower soup followed, and was paired with the Tiki Scotsman. Made with Johnnie Walker Black, Fassionola syrup, fresh squeezed lime juice, mint and nutmeg, this was the sweetest of the six drinks. Known for their steaks, the restaurant’s four course was Filet Mignon Oscar alongside Lyonnaise potatoes, roasted asparagus, mushrooms and Johnnie Walker Platinum served neat.
During the evening, guests learned more about the iconic brand while discovering the proper way to drink whisky and taste its flavors. The cool thing about these dinners is that attendees get the chance to meet other local movers and shakers in the community that they may not otherwise meet on their own. As the event came to an end, the final act was a moist tiramisu served with the whisky maker’s top label, Johnnie Walker Blue.
Tickets for Ruth’s TasteMaker Dinner with Johnnie Walker are priced at around $100-$125 a person and are available at participating locations across the nation. The next three events will feature pairings by Chateau Montelena Winery, Moët Hennessy and Marchesi Antinori on June 15, August 17 and October 15, respectively.
