Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano is inarguably one of the greatest living architects, with tons of awards and accolades to his name. “The beauty of his designs stems from his stubborn insistence that the placement of a column or a window, when done with enough patience and care, brings us a step closer to a more enlightened society,” wrote The New York Times in 2009. Basically, we pay attention when his name is attached to a project, which is why we can’t wait to see the upcoming Eighty Seven Park in Miami.
As the architect’s very first residential building in North America, the firms (Terra, New Valley and Bizzi & Partners) behind Eighty Seven Park have recently announced that they closed on a $91M construction loan to get them one step closer to breaking ground on the oceanfront property—which they hope to do later in the year.
“Our ability to secure favorable construction financing for Eighty Seven Park stems from the strength of the project’s development team, the uniqueness of its location, and the caliber of our design team led by one of the world’s best architects, Renzo Piano,” explains David Martin, Co-Founder and President of Terra. “Our experience with Eighty Seven Park is an example of how projects benefitting from premium locations and credible development teams are appealing to lenders and buyers alike.”
Once finished, the exclusive 70-unit condominium at 8701 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach will be surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, a 35-acre public park and a two-acre private park. Though details regarding the homes are sparse, they will feature “large outdoor living spaces with summer kitchens, which will equal approximately 70 percent of each unit’s interior space.” Plus, the building itself will include “around-the-clock concierge and butler service, an outdoor juice bar, a full-service salon for residents and a full-time botanist who will assist residents with their private balcony gardens.”
Though Piano is heading up the design, Rena Dumas is taking care of the interior/exterior living spaces, while Stantec and West 8 are handling the landscape design.
