The New York Times called him “the most elegant architect now practicing in the U.S.” And now, Rafael Viñoly is working on a pair of significant 60-story residential towers in the Miami area. One River Point is Viñoly’s first residential project in the city. The Uruguayan architect and founding principal of Rafael Viñoly Architects already has a diverse portfolio of award-winning projects spanning the globe, from museums and performing arts centers to hotel and residential complexes.
His most recent completed projects include The Cleveland Museum of Art, the Tokyo International Forum and the Battersea Power Station, the last effectively transforming riverfront property in the heart of London. He plans to do this in Miami, as well. Set to rise more than 780 feet from its riverside base at 24 Southwest Fourth Street, the towers will be connected at the summit by a three-story floating glass sky bridge that will have a 35,000-square-foot private, members-only Sky Club curated by world-renowned hotelier Adrian Zecha.
The Sky Club is a contemporary take on the world’s most prestigious lifestyle clubs—Beijing’s Jockey Club, Hong Kong’s China Club, London’s Soho House, Aspen’s Caribou and New York’s Core Club—and will become a new Miami gathering place, 60 stories above downtown. Members will enjoy three levels of club amenities including a 10,000-square-foot Skybridge club garden and terrace, as well as indoor and outdoor fine dining restaurants, private and public venues, a craft cocktail bar, cigar lounge, chef’s kitchen, and temperature-controlled wine cellar and tasting room. A screening and media room, library and resident’s lounge, and a business center with private meeting rooms round out the club’s signature dimensions.
The Sky Club will also feature a pre-approved membership opportunity for residents, as well as access to 25 deluxe club suites for members’ guests. These suites feature biometric access, automated parking, and personalized security profiles.
One River Point lies within the only private gated park on the Miami River. A cascading 85-foot waterfall that courses down a floating four-story podium is one of the many design statements that are hallmarks of Viñoly’s vision. Owners can enjoy an infinity-edge oasis pool, regulation size lap pool, a poolside café and restaurant with butler service, private cabanas and a Med Spa.
The towers will feature approximately 350 residences with private elevator landings, 10 to 12 feet ceilings, open layouts with floor-to-ceiling glass walls, honed stone flooring, designated art walls with task lighting, multi-zone climate control integrated with smart-home technology, 12-foot deep glass enclosed outdoor living terraces with vistas of the Miami River, Biscayne Bay and the city skyline. Residences will range from 1,000 to12,000 square feet, with prices starting from $850,000.
Above the residences are individually tailored penthouses, SkyLofts and SkyVillas that range from 5,000 to 12,000 square feet. One River Point is set on 1.8 acres and has an on-site central vault, rotating art exhibits by an internal curator, as well as art storage space that will allow art collectors to enjoy diverse art enhancements. Sales of these residences and penthouses commenced in October of 2015.
