Usually the beach is where most of Miami’s action is, but Brickell City Centre (BCC) is bringing some much-needed attention to urban living. The $1 billion mixed-use development project is planned to cover 5.4 million square feet and nine acres, giving tons of high-end shopping opportunities that will blend seamlessly with business, residential and art districts to create a miniature society.
Maile Aguila, Senior Vice President of Sale for Swire Properties (the developer of BCC), assures that the venture—which is apparently one of the largest the United States has seen—will be bringing some fresh personality to the area, firmly setting it apart from Miami Beach and downtown. “Brickell is a true urban center and as such has an energetic and fun vibe. It is young and mature at the same time with a distinct fashion and design flair.”
Not only will it be anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue, two luxury residential towers, two office towers and an EAST hotel with its own apartments, Brickell will also build a transportation network that will make moving throughout Miami easier than ever before. “It is flanked by transportation nodes, including a concentration of public transportation options, making it accessible with or without an automobile,” says Aguila.
“Brickell is one of Miami’s densest neighborhoods with a large amount of residents and workers always keeping the area alive," she continues. "It has an excellent walk score of about 90. The neighborhood is close to the entertainment, sports, art and culture venues in the city, and is a hub of activity for those living and working in the Miami Downtown area and vicinity. The area is teaming with bars and restaurants making it a daytime and evening destination.”
Brickell City Centre is set to deliver beginning end of 2015.
