Some people go to Miami to soak up the sun and relax, others go for the nightlife and celeb-watching. We’re done with that though. If you’re in the city where the temperatures are high, why not get your adrenaline soaring as well? In case you’re looking for something exciting to do, we’ve rounded up a few activities that are sure to get your heart pumping next time you’re in Miami.
Get up Close and Personal with a Gator
The Florida Everglades is home to many endangered species like the Florida Panther, but among the most thrilling of animals is the alligator. You can take advantage of the subtropical landscape and go on an airboat tour through Gator Park to see the animals up close and in their natural habitat. The park also has wildlife shows where you can watch trainers actually wrestle with the reptiles, and if you’re feeling up to you, you can take a photo holding a baby gator to prove your bravery.
Go Flying on a Jet Pack
Whether you’ve always dreamt of flying or always dreamt of playing with a James Bond gadget, a water-powered jet pack is a thrill right up your alley. Miami-based Aquajet will train you how to use the water toy, and off you go soaring a whopping 30 feet above the ocean.
Sit Courtside at a Heat Game
If you happen to be a fan of King James Lebron James and the rest of the Big Three, there’s nothing in Miami that will get your heart pumping like sitting courtside at a Heat game. Since the basketball team is chasing another championship at the moment (as a Spurs fan, I’m hoping of a repeat of last year’s finals, but with a much different outcome, but I digress), the stakes are even higher and the crowd at the American Airlines Arena is sure to be even more crazed.
Get Tattooed
Home to television’s Miami Ink, Love Hate Tattoo is full of really talented artists. The shop is open 11am to 11 pm, and they do accept walk-ins in case you have a sudden urge to get inked. We figure if you’re planning on getting something permanent etched on your skin, might as well get it done by the very best!
Sip a Cortadito
If all or any of these activities are a little too out-there for you, you can always get your heart buzzing manually with a cortadito. The Cuban espresso had its time in the spotlight during a Kardashian episode for Khloe goes nuts trying to find one at five in the morning. Cortaditos are available in most coffee shops in Miami, but drinking one in Little Havana will just feel so much more authentic.
