Known simply as LACMA to locals, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is an artistic hot-spot you really need to set aside an entire day for (plus, it's right next to the La Brea Tar Pits). Spanning over 20 acres in the heart of L.A., there are several different buildings full of art, gift shops, and coffee stands. Having opened back in 1965, LACMA is dedicated to collecting art from all over the world, but also works hard to represent local history. With permanent holdings that include Asian and Latin American art, as well as famous names like Picasso, the museum frequently has exhibits people from all over Southern California make the drive to see.
