What better way to promote a budding brand than in Hollywood during awards season? And what better a platform for that brand than one that celebs already covet and wear—gold. The UK-based World Gold Council is the globe’s leading authority on gold. The council promotes networking among industry, consumers and investors in efforts to stimulate the desire for the product as well as finding new developmental arenas around the world. As the recognized voice of the gold industry, the council is made up of divisions including gold investment, government affairs, technology and media. Additionally, the council promotes “awareness” of gold jewelry through a variety of promotional events. Via their Love Gold initiative, endorsement included the efforts of both talented designers and the fabulous celebrities rocking the timeless adornments. This January, Love Gold certainly added a dusting of shine to LA’s sunny Golden Globe’s week.
Recently, the historically posh Chateau Marmont Hotel property acquired a nearby single-story cottage for intimate private events and exclusive Hollywood entertaining. Naming the bright, airy home "Selma House,” Chateau Marmont transformed the cottage into a romantic Parisian-style parlor and dining room. Love Gold took over Selma House, toasting the town, the Globes and of course, the gold. After playing host to big name industry members during several days of award show festivities, the real celebrations were kicked off mid-week with the Miss Golden Globes luncheon, honoring Miss Golden Globes 2013, Francesca Eastwood.
The E! reality star, who is also the daughter of famed actor and director Clint Eastwood, was a gracious host at the three-course luncheon. The following Sunday, during the awards, Ms. Eastwood painted a pretty picture escorting Golden Globe Award Winners to and from the stage. Seated at floral adorned tables, attendees to the Selma House ranged from local media and Hollywood starlets to featured jewelry designers, including Neil Lane who showcased several beautifully bold pieces studded in diamonds.
Possibly the only distraction from the good-looking guest list and décor were the artful displays of gold jewelry, resting delicately in nests and on branches around the interior of the cottage. Showcasing luxury jewelry designs from both widely recognized brands as well as newcomers, Love Gold treated guests to an exhibit of unique pieces in an array of gold types and karats. A flashy gold fringe necklace by Solange Azagury-Partridge lit up a table, while Me and Ro’s hammered pieces lent a feminine touch to the display. Perfectly fitting for Hollywood, Pamela Love’s eclectic range of edgy rings struck a rock ‘n roll chord. Since the Globes treated Love Gold so well, they plan to return for the Oscars, which will premiere in a couple weeks on February 24th.
