Explore one of the finest and largest selections of Cava in London when aqua London launches the Aqua Nueva Cava Bar in March. A Spanish rooftop restaurant on Regent Street, Aqua Nueva’s new bar will be offering master classes in the sparkling, champagne-like wine from Spain called Cava. Inspired by the rising trend of cosmopolitan-style aperitivo drinking, Aqua Nueva aims to educate guests by showcasing 15 award-winning Cavas at its traditional tapas bar.
Leading the experience will be the Castillo Perelada Cava Flight from which guests can enjoy a trio of delicious Cavas. This award-winning estate is responsible for several types of Cava including the Castillo Perelada’s Gran Claustro 2007, which was proclaimed as the “Best Cava in the British Market” at the 2011 Wines From Spain Awards. The Cava Flight costs £19 ($29) per person for three flutes.
The selection of white and rose Cavas will be available to enjoy by the glass or bottle in the opulent restaurant space, five floors above the heart of London’s West End. Guests to the Spanish restaurant can take a front row seat at the tapas bar to enjoy the theatrics of the Grill Kitchen. To highlight the versatility of Cava, Head Chef Alberto Hernandez will present a bespoke tapas menu to be enjoyed at the bar.
Guests can enjoy three tapas dishes for £18 ($28) including such delights as seafood tartar served with ajo blanco and grilled cuttlefish accompanied by ink sauce and alioli. Head Sommelier Zsolt Kismodi will also offer guests the opportunity to sample some first class vintage Cavas and explore the history of the sparkling wine with monthly Castillo Perelada master classes. During the one-hour workshop participants will learn about the grapes used, the aging process and tips on how to distinguish the unique bouquets. The classes are priced from £39 ($61) per person with limited places available.
