Halekulani Presents Culinary Experience 'Barbeques From Around The Globe'

BY: Carly Zinderman | 2012
For select days during the month of October, the luxurious Halekulani hotel is offering a menu inspired by Executive Chef Vikram Garg's international culinary training. “In this menu, I’m sharing my 22 years of travels around the world, distilled into culinary experiences. It speaks to my philosophy of sourcing locally and cooking globally,” says Garg. “Each dish brings back personal memories for me. For instance, the Ginger Yogurt Marinated Chicken with Mint Chutney and Kachumber Salad brings me back to my youth growing up in India, the Jamaican Jerk Spiced Pork Chops with Mango and Hearts of Palm Salsa was a favorite when I lived in the Caribbean, and the ‘Soe Galbi’ Korean-Style Beef Short Ribs with Kim Chee reminds me of my first visit to Hawaii, when a cook right here in Halekulani’s kitchen welcomed me to the hotel with a local favorite.” Offered from September 27– October 30 on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at House Without A Key.

Lumeria Yoga Retreat in Maui

BY: Carly Zinderman | 2012
The great thing about Hawaii is that the year-round warm weather means you never have to give up your bikini body and the Lumeria Maui Wellness Retreat is providing new inspiration to stay in shape. Yoga classes come with your stay, so you can salute the sun as it rises over a nearby crater, or opt for the hotel's other wellness programs, from watersports to cleanses. Fall is coming, but don't put away your bikini just yet. Perfect beach weather still prevails at the 24-room luxury retreat Lumeria Maui. It's after Labor Day, but as with most things in Hawaii, the calendar doesn't much matter here. At Lumeria there are still many beach days to celebrate your well-being with yoga, renew your relationship to nature, and experience true Hawaiian culture.
