After several setbacks and rescheduled grand openings, Charlotte is finally getting a new upscale consignment store in Ballantyne Village. Nouveaux will open on September 24 with 3,000-square-feet of pre-owned ready-to-wear, accessories and footwear. The new resale shop will offer men and women an exclusive selection of designer brands like Chanel, Prada, Gucci and Louis Vuitton, as well as popular department store brands at prices up to 70 percent off retail.
The store's owners, Carly Edmiston and Julia Austin, hope the shop will be the new go-to luxury destination in Charlotte. “Most things are going to be like new,” Edmiston told Charlotte Business Journal. “We’re getting some great stuff.” Designed to be a sister store to Austin’s consignment store in Cornelius, Fifi’s Fine Resale, Nouveaux will have more contemporary and upscale pieces.
As one of the fastest growing sectors in retail, pre-owned luxury is on the rise and Edmiston and Austin are hoping to tap into that billion-dollar market. For those wanting to consign at Nouveaux, a list of accepted brands is available on the website and proceeds are split 60/40 between the store and the seller. Items are on the floor for 60 days before they are returned to the owner, but both women are confident that items will move under 30 days. Items will also be available online.
