The 414-foot hybrid gigayacht Octopus—owned by the late billionaire, Microsoft cofounder, adventurer, and philanthropist Paul Allen—is a legendary explorer yacht for those seeking the globe’s most remote and inaccessible locations. Built by the German shipyard Lürssen in 2003 and with a globetrotting 12,500-nautical-mile range, Octopus is one of the most recognized yachts ever built and has explored the coast of Antarctica, traversed the Northwest Passage, and even discovered a shipwreck in the Philippines.
Beyond the yacht’s incredible exploration capabilities and fully equipped dive center, Octopus is outfitted with world-class luxury amenities, including a dedicated owner’s deck with a private bar, jacuzzi, al fresco dining area, and a private elevator; a large pool with an outdoor bar, dining area, and pizza oven; stowage for multitudinous toys and tenders, submarine, SUV, and two helicopters; plus a spa, library and bar, cinema, gym, multiple lounges including a forward-facing observation area, and an on-deck basketball court.
Octopus underwent a refit in 2019 and will immediately heighten the status of its new owner to that of a legendary adventurer.
