Alva Yachts Kick Starts Construction on the Ocean Eco 90 Catamaran
Alva Yachts has started building its first Ocean Eco 90 Catamaran, with the molds for the hull and superstructure currently underway. According to the builder, the Ocean Eco 90 will have a “virtually unlimited range.” Designed by Henndesign with naval engineering by the iYachts studio, the Ocean Eco 90 Catamaran will feature a large flybridge, a well-lit saloon, and an aggressive roof line that comes down to the hull to create a larger roof surface for the more than 200 square metres of solar panels. The vessel will be available with hybrid or full electric propulsion, and will be able to reach an estimated cruising speed of 8-10 knots (9-11mph) and a top speed of 16-18 knots (18-20mph). It will also boast a beam of 14 meters (nearly 46 feet) and a draft of 1.2 meters (nearly 4 feet). The multihull yacht comes on the heel of the recent unveiling of a range of eco yachts, including the Ocean Eco 60 (which is also underway). The Ocean Eco 90 Catamaran is projected to be hitting the water in late 2021.
