The Morgan Motor Company is bringing more technology to their range of classic-style automobiles. According to Condé Nast, the company is investing $8.6 million in designing hybrid and electric versions of their entire preexisting range. Though the British brand still uses ash wood body frames in many of their handmade models, this won't be the first time they have experimented with forward-thinking design.

In 2007 Morgan revealed the Aero 8, which brought in an aluminum chassis, and in 2012 their Plus E Electric Roadster concept made an impact at the Geneva Auto Show. While the latter wasn’t offered as part of their standard lineup, the company seemed to have used it as a test to gauge to determine if a fully-electric range was of interest to consumers. Clearly it was, since the brand will be making all-electric and hybrid versions of its six models by the end of 2019. It’s unknown if the roster will still be available with traditional engines or how much the new ones will be priced at—the current range is $37,000 to $95,000.

The project is being funded by the Advanced Propulsion Centre, which is a partnership between the car industry and the UK government. Money will also be put towards battery packs, turbocharger designs and tech-inspired taxis.
