What does the modern gentleman need, more than anything, when he travels? (Aside from a reserve of pomade and his best traveling sharkskin laptop sleeve, that is.) He needs the perfect vintage-inspired carry-on case that will not only make him feel like 007, but will also perfectly hold his bottle of Chivas Regal Scotch whisky. Even better would be if once he got home, he had a matching steamer trunk to fit all of his traveling keepsakes—like phone numbers.
Chivas Regal and Globe-Trotter have recently collaborated on a ‘Made for Gentlemen’ collection that includes “three collectibles for the whisky connoisseur and world traveler”: a limited edition gift tin, a carry-on case and a trunk. The tin (£28/$43) perfectly fits a bottle of Chivas 12 blended Scotch whisky and is covered with luggage stickers hand-drawn by British illustrator Andrew Davidson, each one representing a different iconic city.
A first from Globe-Trotter, the 20-inch Chivas 12 ‘Made for Gentlemen’ Carry-on Case (£950/$1,471) is made for short-haul trips and weekend getaways to the city. The burgundy “vulcanized fibreboard case” features wood handles, brushes brass accents, and a customized lining that combines a Globe-Trotter archive design with a classic Chivas look.
The Globe-Trotter Steamer Trunk (£12,000/$18,586) boasts a mini bar (obviously) with a mirrored back, shoe compartments, a drawer that can hold eight watches, leather-covered hangers for your secret spy suit collection, and a bespoke lining.
Starting October 5, the entire collection will be displayed in Globe-Trotter’s London flagship store and proceeds from the streamer trunk going to The Prince’s Trust charity.
