The “Bonanza” Ranch Has Officially Been Brokered for $38M
If you’ve always loved westerns and had cowboy (or cowgirl) dreams of galloping through wild, untouched plains on a wild stallion, you might be a little disappointed that this legendary ranch has already been snatched up. Recently brokered by Engel & Völkers Lake Tahoe, the 1,345,488-square-foot ranch sits beneath the peaks of Sierra Nevada and enjoys views of Lake Tahoe. Oh, yeah, and it was the shooting location of the long-running “Bonanza” television series. No big deal.
“Television audiences worldwide are familiar with this idyllic land as home of the ‘Ponderosa Ranch’. In 2004 the Sierra Sunset ranch, which we have just brokered, was built on this land,” remarked Real Estate Agent Jean Merkelbach from Engel & Völkers Lake Tahoe. “Its exciting history made this deal particularly special for us.”
While we don’t know who bought the ranch, they will be soon enjoying eight bedrooms, ten bathrooms, and more than 17,222 square feet of living space that uses more than 440 tons of natural stone. There’s also a private boat landing stage that connects directly to the back yard and stables for 15 horses, as well as a guesthouse, apartments for staff, a private cinema, and a wine cellar.
