Enrique Iglesias is no stranger to successful collaborations, having worked with superstars Akon, Usher, and Pitbull on his recent studio album, Euphoria, but now he is taking his Latin good looks to liquor stores. Iglesias announced earlier this month a sponsorship with Atlantico Rum that will make him the franchise face of the distiller. The sponsorship revolves around the “Discover your Atlantico” campaign, and is sure to employ Enrique’s image on all forms of advertising, from POP to print and everything in between. Additionally, the partnership will prominently place the rum within the musician’s sold-out Euphoria Tour.
Atlantico is a super-premium dark rum that is made from small batches and aged, blended, and bottled by hand in the Dominican Republic. Enrique Iglesias is actually a partner in the company, so there was probably little arm-twisting involved in negotiating the campaign’s details. Blurring the lines between original content and product placement worked wonders for Avion Tequila and Entourage last summer, so we expect Atlantico to get a huge boost from this effort.
