Well, Piaget certainly knows how to get our attention. The Richemont-owned luxury watchmaker and jeweler has just announced that actor Ryan Reynolds is the new international male brand ambassador for Piaget watches. According to Philippe Léopold-Metzger, Piaget CEO, “Ryan Reynolds delights audiences around the world with a blend of elegance and charisma. His remarkable and daring on-screen performances paired with his magnetic good looks have earned him a place as one of Hollywood’s leading men. Like Piaget, he fearlessly brings creativity to his art, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the Piaget family.” We would have to wholeheartedly agree.
The actor responded to the praise in kind. “I’m very happy to join the Piaget family. I’ve known of Piaget since I was just a little kid. You can’t find a more iconic brand, or one which better exemplifies craftsmanship, elegance and creativity. This is something that means a lot to me,” said Reynolds of their partnership. “I work in a field in which things can be cast away quite quickly. So when you find something iconic, something timeless, it’s important. And that’s one of the many things I love about Piaget.”
Reynolds is the second major celeb to rep the brand in recent years, as Oscar-nominated actress Jessica Chastain is currently Piaget’s female international ambassador. Considering the stagnant sales in the luxury and timepiece market, Piaget’s latest hire could be a great move to bring in new shoppers . Whether their latest appointment will drive sales or not has yet to be determined, but one thing is certain: we would definitely buy a watch from Ryan Reynolds.
