A new exhibit that celebrates the work of luxury fashion maven Gabrielle Chanel at China's Guangzhou Opera House is unlike the label's Beijing and Shanghai exhibits in the same country. While the latter two take a biographical approach to commemorate the iconic designer, the new exhibit, which will run today through March 3, is thematically based on a ballet called Le Train Bleu, for which Chanel designed the costumes. The display is meant to showcase the designer's modern lifestyle and involvement in the arts by featuring 400 pieces, including Chanel jewelry and apparel— both new and old— as well as sketches, books, and manuscripts from other artists and writers and accompanying photos and videos of Chanel and her friends.
