In the latest fashion news, Louis Vuitton had their Mens S/S 2014 fashion show today, held at the Parc André Citroën in Paris, France, and was met with much applause from critics. Both celebrities and the fashion elite were in attendance including David Beckham, R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe (who supplied the show’s soundtrack), singers Aarif Lee and Taeyang, as well as Louis Vuitton’s own Marc Jacobs.A collection filled with grays and browns as well as an ample helping of plaids and stripes, seems caught somewhere between a weekend in the Hampton’s and a preppy 50’s schoolyard. The logo laden varsity jackets are not anything to write home about and the few pieces of paisley in this runway show seem oddly placed. While the mismatched plaid shorts and heavy jackets are spectacular pieces on their own, together they make a haberdashery of fashion that Louis Vuitton is barely able to pull off. Their bow-tie finished monochromatic suits are nothing if not high fashion in hues of rosy nude, white, and classic blacks.
The brand continuously tweeted numerous photos during the event, from both backstage and on the runway. This was the fifth Louis Vuitton collection for British designer Kim Jones, the men’s style director at the famous French label.
