Spring is here, love is in the air, and Mother’s Day is right around the corner. In honor of this blooming season (in more ways than one,) we thought we’d spotlight past and present expecting mothers in Hollywood and their best style choices. Because as we all know, having a baby bump is a huge fashion statement and practically like having a built-in accessory. Here are some Hollywood moms who really know what they’re doing when it comes to dressing a pregnant belly. Take notes, ladies. Photo Courtesy of the British Monarchy
Of course, the Duchess of Cambridge tops our list. Kate Middleton has been praised for her fashion choices ever since stepping into the spotlight several years ago— fans seem to love everything from her signature LK Bennett shoes to her affordable dresses to her habit for recycling closet staple pieces like coats and jackets. These days, all eyes are on the Duchess as her baby bump continues to (slowly) grow. For months Kate was so small that we could just barely detect a bump under her everyday outerwear, but now that’s she’s finally starting to show, we’re thrilled that she’s wearing her bump proud. Most recently, the Duchess stepped out on Sunday to meet Scouts at Windsor Castle during the National Parade of Queen’s Scouts. As usual, she wore a Royal-appropriate overcoat from Mulberry, but we love how she emphasized her growing tummy with her strategic hand placement— she’s obviously proud to be mommy to the future heir of the throne!

This reality star-turned-shoe and jewelry designer is one lean lady who seemed to only gain weight in her belly when she became pregnant with her first child in 2012. Lucky for Cavallari, she remained so petite for most of her pregnancy that we often saw her wearing regular clothes like maxi dresses and v-necks paired with chic patterned pants. Even before she became pregnant, Cavallari was known for showing off her long, thin legs in summer dresses and mini-skirts. When her belly finally did pop just before she gave birth to son Camden, we started to see Cavallari incorporate maternity wear into her wardrobe while still sticking to her signature style. Here, the mom-to-be kept things modest up top with three-quarter length sleeves but chose to show her killer legs and emphasize her bump by adding a belt to her ensemble.

Jessica Alba is another star who has always maintained her long and lean figure since she stepped on the Hollywood scene in her teens. Now a mother to two young daughters, Alba’s good fashion sense didn’t waver a bit during her pregnancies. It was refreshing to see the stunning actress fill out a bit, and we love how she chose to accentuate her baby bump in this long gown at the 2011 NCLR ALMA Awards. But best of all, Alba has an undeniable glow that can no doubt be attributed to her bun in the oven.

Beyoncé
When music industry power couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z announced their pregnancy in 2011, fans everywhere predicted that Miss Bey would be one of the most stylish moms-to-be of our time (and they were right.) The singer rocked stylish and elegant maternity wear as she embarked on a whirlwind tour of shows and parties during the Spring and Summer of 2011, including New York Fashion Week. Closet staples included appropriate cocktail dresses, sequined jackets, and menswear-inspired trousers. Here, Beyoncé is cradling her petite bump at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards in an asymmetric orange Lanvin gown.

With her own clothing boutique and a constant spotlight on reality TV, Kourtney Kardashian is ever the style maven, and it seems the eldest of the infamous sister trio continued to get inspired during her two pregnancies. Unlike some mothers, who may stick to darker tones like black and navy while their body undergoes such a severe transformation, we love how Kourtney didn’t shy away from fun pastel tones. In this photo, Kourtney sports a blush maxi dress that has supportive straps and provides comfort to a very pregnant belly. Better yet, the whole family seems to have stayed within the same color palette!

While some expectant mothers may cover up their bumps with flowy tops, darker hues, or distracting details that draw eyes away from the midsection, Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi clearly is not one of them. The stunning TV personality, cookbook author and mother to Krishna Thea chose to dress up her pregnancy in this form-fitting frock. Pictured here at the 2009 Emmy Awards, Lakshmi chose a plum Badgley Mischka dress in a revealing fabric with detail at the belly that drew attention to her barely-there baby bump.

Reese Witherspoon is one of those celebrities that we just love to love, and learning of her third pregnancy in 2012 sent fans over the moon. A petite woman with a killer set of legs, Reese is a woman who knows what works for her and was often photographed wearing comfortable, knee-length summer dresses during her pregnancy last year. We love how Reese dressed up her 5-months-along belly for an appearance in Cannes for her new movie Mud by pairing a formal, long-sleeved cocktail dress with a pair of stunning pink heels. Pretty impressive!
