According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered with ocean and it makes up 96.5% of the planet’s water. The oceans benefit humans in many ways, so it’s no surprise the month of June is dedicated to highlighting them, branding it National Ocean Month. In honor, WonderWorks Orlando is inviting guests to explore and learn more about oceans all month long, all while offering a fun indoor place to spend some time on a hot summer day.
“Be sure to stop by the latest iteration of our I Think, Therefore I STEM exhibit this month to dive into ocean education!” says Davianys Ramos, education sales manager at WonderWorks Orlando. “We were honored to partner with our friends over at SeaWorld and NOAA to develop a great exhibit that teaches guests about the fascinating careers of marine biologists and all they do for marine conservation.”
June is not only observed as National Ocean Month, but June 8th is also considered World Ocean Day. Highlighting the ocean during these holidays is a great way to help people learn about its important role in maintaining a stable climate and the importance of having a healthy ocean system for all to thrive.
WonderWorks Orlando offers several interactive exhibits that highlight ocean life, offering guests a place to play and explore. Guests can learn about the life of a shark by checking out the immersive, multisensory, and educational VR experience at the Shark Sense exhibit. Additionally, WonderWorks has partnered with SeaWorld and NOAA to spotlight the marine biologist career field, using insights and feedback from members on their teams. The exhibit allows guests to learn about all that a marine biologist does in their field and how to become one. Guests can then test their skills to see if they have what it takes to join the exciting field.
According to NOAA, oceans play important roles in our global economic and ecosystems, including climate regulation, transportation, recreation, and the food chain. Because of their multifaceted resources, it is critical that humankind learn more about them and how to help keep them healthy for all.
