In 2017, luxury safari outfit Uncharted Africa Safari Co. will have horses permanently stationed in Makgadikgadi, Botswana. This will allow for morning and afternoon horseback safaris from their authentic safari camps, Jack's Camp, San Camp and Camp Kalahari. Guests will be able to experience the ancient salt pans as the pioneering explorers once did.
Celebrating the traditions of the safari and the wild frontier that is the Makgafikgadi Salt Pans, Uncharted Africa captures the spirit of legendary, pioneering African adventurer Jack Bousfield. Many of the earliest explorers, hunters and missionaries explored the exceptional and unspoiled landscape of the Makgadikgadi on horseback.
Hearkening back to the days of traditional explorers, Uncharted Africa together with Ride Botswana offer trips during both the dry season and the green season, providing rare views of desert-adapted wildlife, meerkats, and the zebra migration (depending on the time of year). The expanse stretches as far as the eye can see, a place so remote and serene that guests can actually see the curve of the earth and hear the blood circulate through their ears.
