On September 12, the iconic Old Post Office on Pennsylvania Avenue in D.C. will be reborn as the Trump International Hotel. The 127-year-old landmark underwent a $200 million restoration to be transformed into the 263-room property. Featuring backlit marble and limited mullion glass, guests will be welcome by a steel-and-glass porte cochére before entering the lobby. Called the Cortile, the hotel’s main gathering space will boast a soaring nine-story atrium, bar and interior courtyard.
Furnished with hand-woven area rugs, plush sofas and crystal chandeliers, the space will be colored in deep reds, emeralds, aubergine and sapphires. Within the mezzanine level overlook the Clock Tower will be BLT Prime, the hotel’s signature restaurant. The Spa by IVANKA TRUMP will feature full lifestyle programs made available to all guests.
Architects Beyer Blinder Belle and interior design consultants Hirsch Bedner Associates worked with Donald and Ivanka Trump to create the accommodations. Guestrooms boast 14- to 16-foot ceilings, American design aesthetics, detailed wall paneling, mirror elements to reflect natural light and five-fixture bathrooms with six-foot tubs. Rooms will be dressed in cream, ivory, soft gold, silver and Federal blue.
Inside the 4,000 to 6,300-square-foot suites, guests will be treated to amenities such as original fireplaces, secured private elevator access, solid wood doors and moldings, double walk-in closets, two-person showers plus formal and dining rooms.
Rates begin at $795 a night on weekdays.
