Established in the 1900’s, Montblac is recognized around the world for its commitment to luxury craftsmanship and impeccable quality. For nearly a hundred years Montblac has been providing the elite consumer with beautifully designed writing instruments; in recent years the brand has modernized its offerings to include watches, leather pieces, jewelry, and fragrances. However, it truly was “the art of writing” that established Montblac as the luxury brand that it is. In 1924 it introduced the Meisterstuck fountain pen, designed with a European sense of craftsmanship and from there the Montblac collections continued to retain the same sense of elegance and functionality.
In order to commemorate the upcoming Presidential Inauguration, Montblac has partnered with the St. Regis Washington, D.C. to debut a pop-up, luxury Montblac shop within the gorgeous Thornwillow Library inside the St. Regis. From January 18th through the 22nd, 2013 the shop will be open daily from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm, offering a range of Montblac goods, from revered writing instruments to cuff links and time pieces. In addition, to both commemorate the inauguration as well as represent the brand’s commitment to art, culture and history the boutique shop will also offer a special collection of stories relating to past inaugurations. The limited-edition, hand printed book, A Presidential Miscellany was edited by author Lewis Lapham and will be available for purchase for $40.
Guests who stay at the St. Regis over the inauguration weekend will receive a complimentary copy of the book. In an interesting project directed by the hotel, guests will also be invited to participate in a letter-writing campaign in which, using Montblac stationary and instruments, they will write their sentiments and hopes for President Obama as he begins his second term. St. Regis Butlers will later hand-deliver the letters to the White House. While definitely a creative and interesting project for guest, we can only hope everyone keeps their tone on the positive side.
