If all goes as planned, soon you’ll be able to sleep with the fishes in whichever ocean you’d like. Developed by BMT Asia Pacific, SeaScape will be a new collection of floating villas available to travelers looking for a one-of-kind vacation experience. BMT’s concept was conceived to give hotel developers a flexible, readily-deployable offering for their guests.
“In the Hotel & Tourism space we know we need to offer not only a unique experience, but also competitive costs and feasible deployment and operation,” notes Richard Colwill, Managing Director of BMT Asia Pacific.
Although the group is still looking for funding, their renderings look pretty cool. In 2013, BMT launched Sea-Suite, a similar idea composed of egg-shaped villas. SeaScape is their updated version designed with clean lines and open-air spaces. The modules are housed on a 700-square-foot, triangular pontoon base and can exist alone or be connected to additional pods to create a larger complex.
Walls will be made of glass in order to provide the best views of your destination. But, one of the villas’ coolest features will be its underwater bedroom, offering 360-degree views of the ocean and its marine life. The cylindrical room will be made of high-grade acrylic and so far looks to only encompass one bed.
BMT’s experience in naval architecture and offshore engineering will also play a big role in creating these modules. The group ensures only high quality materials, fabrication and finishes will be used. In order for the pods to be easily available to hoteliers, BMT has made sure they fit inside standard shipping containers and offer easy installation, even at the most remote sites.
A few immediate questions we’re curious about are: Will there be a fully-functioning kitchen? Will those kitchens be stocked with food? Is boat transportation readily available, especially in emergency situations? In grouped pods, how can you get changed in private or enjoy a romantic evening (if you know what I mean) in your bedroom if all the walls are glass?
Hopefully these questions will be answered in upcoming announcements. Until then, we’ll just sit here and think of all the ways SeaScape should be marketed to nudist groups.
