In this two-minute video by Santorini Heritage Villas & Mansions, it’s hard not to picture ourselves resting poolside on a hammock while soaking up the warm Mediterranean sunshine. Santorini is, in itself, a tranquil island, but the property takes relaxation a step further by following the principles of Feng Shui in their two mansions.
Named Mansions Sophia and Kyani, the two residences are located in the heart of Megalochori village. Previously belonging to one of the wealthiest merchant families in the village, the 100-year-old Mansion Sophia was named after her last owner. After some careful restoration by its current owners, the villa has been updated to provide modern comforts such as air-conditioning, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, and includes a private swimming pool.
Inside, a North African theme decorates the space while polished wooden floors pair with high-vaulted ceilings and an original stone arch in the kitchen. Leading off from the living room are the two bedrooms with a shared bathroom decorated in hushed hues. On the patio, the small courtyard (separate from the pool area) is perfect for al fresco dining.
Having gone through an earthquake in 1956, Mansion Kyani had to be partially restored to return to its former glory. The damaged section of the villa was turned into atmospheric swimming pool and garden area. Using volcanic pumice stone found in the ruins of the residence, Kyani was rebuilt by local craftsmen and includes three separate living areas, one on the first floor and two on the ground level.
The master bedroom has a domed ceiling and a large tub and separate shower in the ensuite bathroom. Upstairs on the first floor, restored wood floors and numerous windows allow natural light to flow through. From the expansive terrace, guests are afforded panoramic views of the surrounding area, and the infinity swimming pool is illuminated at night, offering an unforgettable experience. The second bedroom also sits on this level with its own bathroom.
Aside from the amenities offered within each mansion, guests will also receive a complimentary car rental during their stay, free Wi-Fi and concierge services. While there are no restaurants located at the property, visitors can arrange for groceries to be delivered or for a private chef to prepare Greek or international cuisines at the villa. Of course, being centrally located, be sure to also take advantage of the plethora of local restaurants situated around town.
Rates for Mansion Sophia start at 320 Euros (around USD $350) per night and 430 Euros (around USD $471) per night for Mansion Kyani.
