I know it sounds like a cliché but rec centers do help keep kids off of the streets and help regular citizens stay healthy. These types of places can only benefit a community, not hurt it so we should consider building more of these locations.
ST. LOUIS • With construction and political wrangling done, the city’s O’Fallon Park Recreation Complex opens this week with high hopes of attracting lower-income people to its splashy suburban-style offerings.
The $18.1 million center is a twin to the Carondelet Park Recreation Complex in south St. Louis, which opened in November 2009. Both were financed by a special city sales tax and are managed by the YMCA of Greater St. Louis.
On Saturday, more than 300 people — including area residents, YMCA officials, and civic leaders — came out for a ribbon-cutting event and to tour the facility. Read More on stltoday.com
