All right, party people, we’re officially two weeks away from New Year’s Day. Which means, NYE is right around the corner! If you haven’t made plans yet, there are plenty of fun happenings going on around San Diego on December 31. We gathered together some of our favorites to help you figure out which affair to attend. Here are six of America’s Finest City’s best New Year’s Eve parties hosted by hotels:
Westgate Hotel
It seems like this year has been all about James Bond and Star Wars; so it makes sense that we’d end the year with a 007-themed shindig. The Westgate Hotel will be ringing in 2016 with James Bond’s iconic specialty cocktails, her majesty’s five-course dinner by Executive Chef Fabrice Hardel and a Secret Agent dress code. Along with dinner, guests can enjoy casino games such as roulette, craps and baccarat, and of course, plenty of dancing. Held in the Versailles Salon, the five-course dinner will include live music and a menu featuring Hackleback Caviar, Hudson Valley Foie Gras Terrine, Butter Poached Maine Lobster, Creekstone Farm Beef Tenderloin and Guayaquil Chocolate Marquise. At midnight, the property will host a Champagne Toast and Balloon Drop. Tickets start at $219 per person and room reservations are also available starting at $750 a night in a premier room. For the ultimate NYE, book the Spectre package ($3,300) which features all the above plus a stay in the Presidential Suite or Governor Suite, chocolate truffles and a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne in your room.
Andaz San Diego
Andaz is giving guests two choices of parties to choose from on December 31. The first is the Rooftop Ball where formal dress is strongly encouraged, complimentary hors d'oeuvres are served and a Champagne toast will take place at midnight. The exclusive affair is only available to 500 people. The second option is for those who want to let loose and get a little bit crazier. Held in the property’s nightclub, guests will ring in the new year with a live DJ and dancing going on all night long (or until 2 a.m.). In case you’re wondering, no, you can’t venture to the rooftop if you buy the nightclub tickets. General admission starts at $150 per person and go up to $5,000 for the Diamond VIP Package. The offer includes a table for 20, three Magnum Bottles of Grey Goose and two Magnum Bottles of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label. Should you wish to stay the night, you’ll also get a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine in your room upon arrival.
Hard Rock Hotel San Diego
Every year, Hard Rock Hotel San Diego puts on one heck of a NYE party. Of course, this year will be no different with five venues spread across three floors and over 20 DJs filtering through. The event’s headliners are DJ Laidback Luke, Diamond Pistols and a live performance by E-40. While tickets are close to being sold out, you can still snag some for $110 per person and VIP table prices available upon request. If you’re smart about the evening, you’ll book a one-night stay so that you won’t need to worry about Uber surcharges or worse having to hail a cab (shudder) at the end of the night. Room rates start at $489 and come with two party tickets and bottle of Champagne in your room.
Marriott Gaslamp Quarter
Located in the heart of all the NYE action, Marriott Gaslamp Quarter’s Bottoms Up affair is an all-inclusive celebration filled with free-flowing Champagne, live DJs and gourmet fare. From its street-level restaurant to the rooftop lounge perched on the 22 story, guests have a range of options when it comes to getting their vibe on. Not only are your drinks covered, but food will also be served in various stations around the hotel. Sushi, assorted greens, artisan flatbread pizzas, a raw seafood bar assorted desserts and a chocolate fountain will all be on offer. Tickets start at $195 a person or overnight accommodations begin at $369 a night and include valet parking for one car.
The Lafayette Hotel
The Lafayette hotel is a longtime favorite of locals (and many a hipster). This year’s December 31 party, Mystère in the French Quarter, will feature three different venues with live music, dancing and even circus performers. Directly through the main doors, the lobby area will be home to The French Quarter experience while the Mississippi Ballroom will hold the The Bayou, a lively dance party. Downstairs, the Voodoo Lounge will offer a four-course meal and Prohibition-inspired cocktails. The pre-fixe dinner will be created by Chef Ryan Gilbert and vegetarian options are available. Tickets begin at $65 and go up to $207 for general admission, dinner and 10 complimentary well drink tickets. Rooms start at $289 and come with admission for two.
