San Diego is in for a serious treat come May. The James Beard Foundation has chosen The Lodge at Torrey Pines to host three days of culinary experiences overseen by celebrity chefs. Partially benefiting the foundation, The Celebrity Chefs Tour dinners will feature Food Network Star Beau MacMillan, JBF Award Winner Carrie Nahabedian and Executive Chef Jeff Jackson.
Each year, only a handful of cities are chosen to host the annual event. From May 29 to May 31, San Diegans will get a chance to partake in the exclusive dinners. Along with the meals and wine pairings, guests will get to stay at the resort and will be given a tour of Point Loma Farms.
"The art and the thought that goes into preparing quality dining experiences is central to what I do, and I have been inspired by the James Beard Foundation for many years," said Executive Chef Jeff Jackson in a statement. "This is such an incredible opportunity for everyone involved, and I'm excited to work with Chefs Beau MacMillan and Carrie Nahabedian to create not just a dinner, but a culinary experience."
On May 30, the lodge’s Chef Jackson will host a five-course farm-to-table menu with wine from three California wineries: Nickel & Nickel, Far Niente and En Route. Chef Jackson will be joined by Chef MacMillan and Chef Nahabedian.
To join in the foodie events, travelers and locals can book packages which include a one- or two-night stay in one of the hotel’s Signature rooms. The latter, all-inclusive offer, comes with dinner for two at A.R. Valentien on Friday, two seats at Saturday’s Celebrity Chef Tour Dinner, a cocktail reception, and breakfast, lunch and brunch sessions throughout the weekend. This package is priced at $1,995.
