For over a century, THE US GRANT has been one of San Diego’s premier luxury hotels, attracting discerning travelers with its grandiose elegance and historic roots. The palatial property is conveniently located in the heart of downtown, just a short walk to some of the best shopping, dining and entertainment found within the Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy and Seaport Village. One step inside its doors and you’ll begin to understand why it has been the recipient of numerous honors and accolades, including the AAA Four Diamond Award for the past eight consecutive years.
While all 270 guest rooms boast amenities beyond what any business or leisure traveler could need, THE US GRANT’s 43 suites offer an enriching experience, steeped in the ultimate luxury. Junior legacy suites boast a sitting area within the guest room, meanwhile, Landmark Suites extend the space into a one bedroom suite
Similarly, they feature a spa-like bathroom with basin sinks, a marble shower, exclusive Elemis bath products, and a cozy robe and slippers. Nestled above each Luxury Collection bed in all guest rooms and suites rests a custom drip-painting headboard by French Artist Yves Clement, which add a touch of modern glamour to classic details.
The 700-square-foot Signature Suites are among the most popular. The spacious studio-style suites contain a dining area for four connected to a living room with 32-inch TV, original artwork, and a chandelier hanging above. The bathrooms may just be the pièce de résistance in these opulent accommodations, with his and hers basin sinks and a 10-foot by 10-foot walk-in marble shower with six showerheads sure to relax even the weariest traveler.
Spread across the ninth and tenth floors is the Presidential Bi-Level Suite. With high ceilings and a dramatic entry, the space originally served as the hotel’s grand ballroom, having hosted dignitaries and celebrities since 1910. On the tenth floor, the master bedroom and glass enclosed shower bestows a welcome retreat in a calming color palate of pastels.
Descending the staircase to the ninth floor, the living area is completed by adjoining dining room with seating for six. French doors and large windows allow the Southern California sun to shine through, and invite a moment’s repose on the suite’s balcony where views extend beyond the cityscape into the glistening San Diego bay
A second Presidential Suite option occupies the hotel’s eleventh floor. First added to the then 10 story US GRANT Hotel in 1939 as a radio station, the Penthouse Suite once hosted Franklin D. Roosevelt to broadcast one of his first“fireside chats” outside of Washington DC. Among other lavish amenities and more expensive views of San Diego, the Penthouse Suite gives guests a true Presidential experience with its infinity overflow tub complete with remote controlled “chromotherapy” that lets guests change the LED lighting to set the stage for pure tranquility.
Although it may be difficult to leave such lavish accommodations, THE US GRANT gives guests plenty of reasons to do so, from personal training sessions in the state-of-the-art fitness center, to soothing treatments in the Spa Suite, or fresh California cuisine and craft cocktails at the Grant Grill and Grant Grill Lounge. Also on-site are 22 unique meeting and event venues covering 33,000 square feet of space, making any professional conference or dream wedding not only possible, but an occasion to remember.
Luxurious suites, gourmet restaurants, a multi-million dollar fine art collection, stylish event venues, and countless accolades to boot—it’s clear THE US GRANT is more than willing and able to show guests San Diego’s chic and sophisticated side.
