Travelers rejoice! Alaska Airlines announced that beginning on October 11th a nonstop flight will be available between San Diego and Orlando, Florida. The popular luxury travel destinations had no such option until the recent amendment. Once October rolls around, travelers can fly from San Diego to Orlando International Airport five days a week, including Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 10:35 p.m.
The flight will arrive in Orlando at 6:30 a.m. allowing visitors to take advantage of a full day once in the sunny Florida locale. In addition to Orlando, nonstop flights from San Diego took place over the past week to California cities Fresno/Yosemite, Monterey, Santa Rosa/Sonoma County. Tickets purchased online before June 14 and redeemed by November 14 will begin at $169 each way, which includes taxes and fees.
President and CEO of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, Thella F. Bowens said, "Just after the exciting announcement of three intra-California routes, Alaska Airlines has done it again. Orlando was the largest market without nonstop service to San Diego, and today's news is a welcome bridge between two beloved, sunny cities."
