Get ready to fill up on popcorn and candy, because the 2015 Florida Film Festival is rolling into Maitland next weekend, which is less than 10 miles from Orlando. Running April 10-19, the Oscar-qualifying event is in its 24th year and is known for premiering some of the best from independent, international and Hollywood cinema. Over the course of 10 days, guests have the chance to check out 170 films, tons of events, socialize with celebrities, and sample tasty food and cocktails. Plus, if that doesn’t sound cool enough, Sam Rockwell will be there to screen 2009’s Moon (his Duncan Jones-directed film that won 22 international film awards) and will be sticking around for a Q&A afterwards.
Produced by Enzian Theater, the festival will be playing anticipated flicks like opening night’s Welcome to Me (starring Kristen Wiig as a young woman with Borderline Personality Disorder) and the Rory Culkin film Gabriel, which also centers around a character with mental illness. With panel discussions on topics like British filmmakers and films that have changed the world, as well as tons of parties and the Awards Bash, there will be plenty of events to schedule around the lineup.
A 10-Day pass costs $350 and gives you access to all regular films (excluding specially-priced features, like the Opening Night Film). To get the full experience, get the $600 Film Lover package (which includes early entry to all screenings) or the tax deductible $1,500 Producer option, giving you access to everything, plus a swag bag.
