For a second year in a row, The Excelsior Hotel Gallia in Milan, Italy, won the World Travel Awards’ best suite category. Beating out accommodations at properties such as Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, the Raj Palace, Belmond Hotel Cipriani and Emirates Palace, the Katara Suite’s victory was no easy feat.
The WTA winners were chosen by a panel of experts in the travel industry, singling out the best resorts, destinations and airport lounges on the planet. One look inside, and you can easily see why it was named 2016’s Leading Hotel Suite. The 11,000-square-foot residence is now the largest of its kind in Italy and sleeps up to eight guests. With a $20,000-a-night price tag, the palatial penthouse includes everything you’d expect within a luxury guestroom plus some opulent features.
The suite includes four bedrooms (including two children’s rooms), two terraces, a solarium, 10-seat dining table, 24-hour butler service and a private spa equipped with a hot tub, Turkish bath and sauna. Because the retreat was designed for high-profile travelers, there is even a private diplomatic entrance, bulletproof windows and additional discreet security features.
Rooms are furnished with luxury fittings such as Murano glass chandeliers, Italian linens, and sun loungers designed by Fendi Casa. Should you desire more space, the neighboring Princess Suite can be added on for an extra bedroom, living room and bath. To recap, if you had any doubt that the Excelsior Hotel Gallia deserved this win, you’ve now been set straight.
