No matter what the season, Miami is always ready for its closeup, a panoramic shot, or any other angle you please. Between the #ocean, the #sunsets and the tropical #flowers, this city has plenty of natural beauty. Then there are the manmade elements: Art Deco neighborhoods, stunning beachfront resorts, graceful causeways and yacht marinas. The culture? There’s everything from street art to high fashion, and of course, the amazing blend of people from all around the world. Make sure there’s space on your smart phone, because Miami is an #Instaparadise, and here are the neighborhoods you definitely shouldn’t miss.
South Beach
The obvious starting point for a Miami adventure, this noisy, sexy, colorful neighborhood is world-famous. Go supermodel-spotting at the five-star beach hotels, look for original Art Deco buildings that lend throwback character to the whole block, and check out the view from a posh rooftop bar.
Coral Gables
One of Miami’s oldest neighborhoods, the Gables has a distinct identity and feels like a small walkable city in the very center of the larger Miami metropolis. It has some of the most affordable upscale high-rise condominiums, but also some funky throwback buildings that were built in the 1920s. The Miracle Mile is where you’ll find boutiques, patio restaurants and European-style espresso bars lining both sides of the street.
North Beach
Nobody outside of the residents know much about this northernmost section of Miami Beach, but it’s a serious charmer—from the Collins beachfront resort-style condominiums to the picturesque tiny islands where people keep boats in backyard slips on the canals. The beach is gorgeous, and unlike further south, it feels family-friendly and down-to-earth.
Key Biscayne
While not technically part of the city of Miami, Key Biscayne is a quintessential Miami resort village—one of those magical little pockets of the metropolis where it still feels beachy and laid back. This is one of Miami’s most expensive neighborhoods, but it cherishes its quirky landmarks—most notably Stiltsville, in Biscayne National Park.
Wynwood
This buzzing artists’ enclave might be bordered by some sketchier areas, but nonetheless, it’s among the top three districts everyone recommends to visitors. The street art, “Fashion District” scene and hipster-café life are an antidote to South Beach’s shiny, bikini-clad aesthetic. Proving that Miami isn’t just eclectic, but also edgy, creative and on the cutting edge of culture, Wynwood is probably the most exciting neighborhood in Miami right now.
Doral
Among those in the know, Doral ranks very high on the quality-of-life scale not just for South Florida cities, but nationwide. It’s a suburban area that grew around a world-renowned golf resort, and still retains the wealthy, well-groomed ambience of a posh golf destination.
