You’d probably never guess that the new luxury boutique hotel V Palm Springs was once a budget Travelodge when you walk into its lobby. Purchased by Los Angeles celebrity criminal attorneys, the property saw a $15 million dollar makeover and was transformed into a 21st-century retreat. Because competition is fierce right now in city—an eclectic array of small boutique hotels sit along Palm Canyon Drive—the hotel needed to standout from day one.
Among its best amenities is its pool with enormous golden floating swans will be part of the draw for locals and the swarms of Angelenos whom regularly make Palm Springs their weekend haunt. There are plenty of lounge chairs strategically placed on the pool deck for sun and a variety of umbrellas for those seeking shade and a nap. From the deck, guests can view out onto the nearby San Jacinto Mountains. Cabanas are available for upwards of $1,000 a day and include Champagne, fresh fruit and water.
All guestrooms come with a 47" flat screen smart TV, two lightweight bathrobes, a personal safe and mini fridge. The large bathrooms offer a white tiled walk-in shower and separate tub with unique bath products such as rum bar soap, peppermint shampoo, cilantro hair conditioner, rum body wash and vitamin B5 body moisturizer.
For dining, the onsite Elixir Bar and Grill offers breakfast, lunch, a sunset happy hour and dinner by the pool. The property is also home to a small fitness room, aqua yoga classes offered at 9:30 a.m. on weekends and will soon include a business center and full-service Polynesian-style restaurant.
Complimentary Buzz shuttle service to Downtown Palm Springs is available Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. with a multitude of stops from The Riviera Resort to the Saguaro Hotel. The wait time is never more than 15 minutes, so you can easily hop on and off to explore the city without needing to rent a car. Another mode of transportation is the free cruiser bikes awaiting guests. Travelers are treated to helmets, a bike lock and bottle of water to explore the designated bike paths or along Palm Canyon Drive. Rates begin at $240 a night on weekdays.
