Looking for a road trip to shift Father’s Day into high gear? Drive to Beverly Hill's Rodeo Drive, park, and walk ‘n’ gawk at the street display of some of the most beautiful, collectible, and valuable cars and motorcycles in the world. Listed in Frommer’s 300 Unmissable Events & Festivals Around the World book, the Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance displays classic cars and luxurious new models, all shined up and lined up on the richest boulevard in the Western US.
A Father’s Day tradition for more than 20 years, the free public event will be held June 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s theme is Highways to Heaven, a nod to three of the world’s most legendary roads: USA’s illustrious Route 66; Autostrade, Italy’s national motorways system; and Germany’s Autobahn, famous for having no speed limit for high-performance showoffs.
In addition to vintage cars and bikes, the Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance is also a showcase for select launches, such as the all-new Jaguar XJ model unveiled in 2010, the 2014 premiere of the Porsche Macan in honor of Porsche's 100th birthday, the 2015 Ford Mustang, and an unusual Learjet mockup of the new private Learjet 85 in 2013. Some of choice vintage and exotic beauties shown have been a 1927 Rolls-Royce Phantom, 1965 Alfa Romeo TZ-1, McLaren 12C, and George Barris’ authentic 1966 Batmobile. Holy auto envy!
