Those looking to join in Patina’s often sold-out cooking classes may have just had a stroke of luck. A new class, Wine After Work, will begin in March with Patina’s award-winning Sommelier Silvestre Fernandes. If you’d like to improve your knowledge of fine wine regions, learn worldwide etiquette and drinking customs, or just want to try a few new wines, you’ll want to make reservations for the restaurant's latest course. Offering intimate classes with only 10 people, Wine After Work will give its students the opportunity for one-on-one instruction with Fernandes and will include five wine pours and tastings from Patina’s artisanal cheese cart.
The classes range from beginner to intermediate levels, and will cover different wine regions in each class. March will focus on Burgundy from Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet, April’s class will cover Bordeaux and May’s course will focus on the Provincial region. Beginners will enjoy instruction on how to properly sip, swirl and select a wine, while aficionados can learn more detailed questions to ask a restaurant’s sommelier and how to choose the most impressive wines.
Classes begin in March, and are held on the second Wednesday of each month until the end of May. The instruction is from 6-7 p.m., and those who wish to stay for dinner can choose a complimentary glass of wine from any one of the five bottles they taste-tested during their class. Each course is $50 per person and reservations can be made in-person or over the phone.
