East London will next week be placed firmly on the shopping map, as Westfield Stratford City, Europe's largest urban retail centre, opens its doors. An army of merchandisers and stylists are working around the clock to ensure all shops and restaurants at the prestigious gateway to the Olympic Park look their very best when stores officially open on Tuesday, September 13.
Westfield Stratford City will open with a performance from global superstar Nicole Scherzinger for an audience of guests and 400 competition winners. Celebrity spotters won’t be disappointed as a host of high-profile VIPs, Olympic and Paralympic athletes will be making appearances at key retailers throughout the day.
John Burton, the director of Westfield Stratford City, said: “What really matters to Westfield is the opportunity to convince millions of people who will come to the Olympic Park about what has changed in east London and give them very good reason to come back."
Also on offer will be an array of treats for shoppers including giveaways from retailers including Forever 21, Topshop, Adidas, John Lewis, Uniqlo and many more.
Built inside the Olympic Park, the 1.9 million-square-foot development, Westfield Stratford City will be home to more than 300 dynamic stores, including first to UK fashion concepts and over 70 places to eat and drink. El Cantara is an exciting delicatessen and dining offering showcasing the very Moorish tastes of Spain and Morocco. For the best of British, look no further than Bumpkin. Relax in quirky rustic-style surroundings and discover delicious country inspired cuisine. The perfect antidote to English weather, Rhythm Kitchen will brighten up even the dullest day thanks to its fun, tasty, healthy and authentic Caribbean Jerk food.
The Westfield development will also be an exciting and key leisure destination for London, with a 17-screen, all digital Vue cinema; the UK’s largest casino operated by Aspers; three hotels, an All Star Lanes bowling alley and central events and entertainment spaces.
