An Icon Returns: Four Seasons Hotel New York

Four Seasons Hotel New York makes a welcome return to Manhattan's Billionaires' Row

New York City may be the city that never sleeps, but it’s certainly wide awake when it comes to luxury hotels—and this metropolis has not one, but two Four Seasons properties. While Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown has been welcoming guests in the Tribeca region, it’s the long-anticipated reopening of Four Seasons Hotel New York at 57th Street that’s causing a hospitality stir. After several luxe enhancements, the iconic Midtown gem is back in business, promising an experience that blends timeless elegance with modern flair. So, what makes this reopening so monumental? Let’s dive into the details:

Many guest rooms and suites feature sweeping views of Central Park

The more than four year closure allowed for changes that affect the overall guest experience, and in November of 2024, the hotel reopened to reveal the changes within. Updates include refreshed and modernized guest rooms, public spaces, and dining options, offering an even more luxurious and contemporary experience, ensuring that it once again stands out in the competitive Manhattan hotel market. An icon amid one of the world’s most recognizable skylines, the 52-story hotel makes an impression from the moment one is warmly welcomed through its doors. Striking is the delicate balance between architectural preservation and luxurious design. Central to architect IM Pei’s original vision (he designed the building in the 1990s) is the grand lobby with its dramatic 33-foot glass ceiling, honey-toned marble floors, and columns enhanced with sculptural florals. Its sleek lines and open spaces set the tone for the rest of the property. It is an awe-inspiring space, inviting guests to transition from the city’s hustle and bustle to a calm, refined environment.

To the right, under a canopy of potted trees, The Garden serves breakfast, lunch, and weekend brunch in its urbane setting. Celebrated Executive Chef Maria Tampakis signature menus retain long-time guest favorites as well as some new twists, such as panettone French toast, and agnolotti stuffed with short rib and caramelized onion kissed by pecorino fondue. Her luxe takes on classic comfort foods include the Italian Benedict with sundried tomato hollandaise. Coming next year, The Garden will introduce dinner service. And, the extensive, 24-hour in-room dining menus focus on top quality ingredients and touches of luxury, such as the new signature breakfast with caviar, creme fraiche, and Dom Pérignon.

Across the lobby, in a sea of swanky red velvet, TY Bar returns with premium spirits and a thoughtful wine list, accompanied by a luxe bites menu by Chef Maria. Enjoy a sip-by-sip journey through New York’s storied cocktail eras as a photo wall beams iconic Big Apple images. Traipse through the Gilded Age with an ultraluxe Ty Manhattan, or skip to the 60’s with the Don Draper-worthy Three Martini Lunch flight. The 5th Ave. Cosmo honors super-sophisticated 5th Ave, and the Mad Ave Old Fashioned features Beyonce’s SirDavis American Whiskey. Each cocktail is an elevated version of a classic, made even more intoxicating by the bar’s sultry and softly luminous vibe.

While Four Seasons Hotel New York’s design has evolved, it has retained the very elements that first drew guests from around the world: an impeccable location, an emphasis on privacy and comfort, and a commitment to world-class service. As the hotel once again welcomes the world, it remains clear why this reopening has garnered so much excitement; it represents the very best of what New York City and the Four Seasons brand have to offer.

You’ll find souvenir store after souvenir store in Manhattan, but the best way to remember your Four Seasons Hotel New York stay is with a Beanie Baby. The hotel is owned by Beanie Baby founder Ty Warner, hence, the well-stocked Beanie Baby boutique adjacent to the hotel’s reception desk. The boutique is a whimsical nod to the past, filled with Beanie Babies and plush animals that evoke a sense of nostalgia. Whether you pick-up a memento for a loved one or for yourself, each toy serves as a lighthearted reminder of the sophisticated luxury and playful spirit that define a stay at this iconic New York gem.
