If you’ve been following any of the petty recent news stories regarding the former Capella Pedregal in Cabo San Lucas, then like us, you’ve probably grown weary of any headline pertaining to the ownership debacle. Yet here we are again, bringing the Mexican hotel into the spotlight once more. After much finger-pointing and “he said/she said” debates, the new property opened on January 31 under its new name: The Resort at Pedregal.
"After four months of restoration, with hard work and dedication from our outstanding staff, we are excited to re-introduce the property to guests and further elevate our status as the number one resort in Mexico," said newly appointed General Manager Carlos Blanco in a release. "As part of our forward journey, we will continue to deliver world-class experiences providing guests, both new and returning, with a lifetime of memories, complete with new offerings and amenities."
After Hurricane Odile, like many Cabo hotels, The Resort at Pedregal was forced to rebuild their property. As a part of the reconstruction efforts, the hotel added the Champagne Terrace which sits cliffside at the entrance of El Farallon restaurant. The terrace will be a learning experience for those wanting to explore and discover various bubblies through their climate, soil and aging processes.
The former award-winning spa has also been revamped with a renewed focus on natural healing techniques, and remains focused on signature treatments indigenous to Mexico and its surrounding regions.
As a previous guest of Capella Pedregal, and having praised the five-star resort last year, I’m really hoping that it will remain on my list of favorite destinations. Because, at this point, I (like other past guests) already have a sour taste in my mouth for the new property. I guess only time and a visit back will tell. If you’ve experienced both, let us know your thoughts on how The Resort is living up to its predecessor.
