Luxury Hotels: You wouldn’t know that we are in the midst of a recession with all the new hotels that keep popping up throughout Boston. The latest addition is the W Boston, which opened in November and is located in the Theater District across the street from the Citi Performing Arts Center.
The all-glass cosmopolitan chic hotel features every modern amenity, including floor-to-ceiling windows, flat screen TVs and a docking station for MP3 players. The coolest feature of the hotel just might be the lobby where the “living room” is transformed into a disco after dark. For the younger crowd, the underground bar, Descent, is popular, while an older crowd flocks to W Lounge.
For the ultimate indulgence, request the “Extreme WOW Suite,” the W’s take on the penthouse unit. This one-bedroom suite with separate sitting area is located on the top floor of the hotel and features a living room, dining area (complete with a table for eight), entertainment system with 42-inch LCD TV, DVD player, and iPod docking station. The pet friendly hotel has a P.A.W. policy (pets are welcome) so don’t leave your four-legged friend behind.
New York’s famed Bliss Spa will be opening here later this spring. The much anticipated day spa will feature a luxe nail lounge with movies-while-you-manicure stations, pampering treatment rooms and a retail boutique. In the locker rooms and lounges there will be digital lockers, grass-tiled steam showers, saunas, sinkside soap sampling, and a selection of spa snacks including olives, cheese, fruit, and for those not counting calories, a brownie buffet.
Guests of the hotel have complimentary access to The Sweat Fitness Center, which has a good array of treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes and cross-trainers mounted with LCD TVs and iPod docking stations, weight machines, free weights, yoga mats, balance balls as well as a boxing station. Once you have worked off all those calories, you can head over to Market by Jean Georges where you won’t feel guilty indulging in some truffle fontina pizza, glazed beef short ribs or bacon-wrapped shrimp with avocado and passion fruit mustard.
If you booked a night on the town, be sure to ask the concierge desk to arrange for a ride in the complimentary luxury Acura MDX SUV, which comes stocked with goodies.
