Everyone in Boston knows Louis Boston carries the best-of-the-best in men’s and women’s clothing and accessories; which is no surprise why jewelry designer Haim Medine wanted to launch his Khai Khai Jewelry line there.
“The jewelry line has a youthful vibe that is whimsical,” Medine said. “I think every brand should be able to offer something for everyone so I created the line with that vision. There are some expensive pieces but there is something for everyone. It is geared to women who are up-to-date with current market trends and like to express themselves. The digital inspired collection is so relevant in this day and age because everyone uses social media. I think the fact that I make fine jewelry using these characters is unique.”
Khai Khai, which launched in February, was a nickname given to Medine as a child and is meant to appeal to the raw youth in all of us. “Khai Khai was a childhood nickname that was given to me by my mother and it has stuck with me,” Medine said. “It has stuck with me throughout the years so it fits in with my story so nicely.”
“My inspirations come from all over the place,” Medine added. “I really can’t pinpoint it to just one thing, but current fashion trends influence me and there are some things from my childhood that really resonate with me. I am also inspired by the important women in my life like my mother and sister.”
The collection — which includes three wise monkeys, a flamingo ring and a Kharakter Kollektion — strives to bridge the gap between costume and fine jewelry by ultimately offering an intricate array of edgy, yet sophisticated, designs crafted by utilizing 18K gold and natural stones. Prices range from $600 to $3,000.
