With comedian Bill Burr gracing the Wilbur Theater stage in Boston this weekend, it’s time to find a spot for some pre or post-show dining. Where else would be more appropriate than Teatro Restaurant? Located just steps from The Wilbur Theatre, The Opera House, Citi Center and Citi Emerson Colonial Theatre, Teatro Restaurant by Chef Jamie Mammano is one of the hottest spots in the city.
Executive Chef Jeffrey Howe has created a modern menu with an Italian flair (think eggplant rollatini with ricotta, tomato and basil) for the restaurant, which just celebrated its 10th anniversary. The beautifully decorated interior sets the stage for the parade of deliciously filled dishes that make their way from the kitchen to the table. Get started with the slightly sweet, Marsala glazed tender veal meatballs with creamy corn polenta before moving on to the crispy flatbread with tomato, mozzarella and oregano.
For main events, we highly recommend the pan-seared scallops with tender mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, pancetta and apple butter. On the evening we dined, the daily special included a pan-roasted cod loin, but we couldn't resist the rich rigatoni with classic Ragu Bolognese. For the grand finale, be sure to order up a sampling of the vanilla bean panna cotta.
If you didn’t save room for dessert, it’s just a great excuse to return for an encore presentation. Teatro Restaurant also offers craft cocktails as well as a nicely rounded wine list. Depending on the season, the restaurant’s specialty cocktails feature a range of fresh ingredients such as the Hot Tub, combining pineapple-infused vodka, Chambord and Mionetto Prosecco.
